1. I can’t log in. Forgotten password.
  • Open the app on your device. 
  • Tap ‘Search school name’. 
  • Search for and select your school from the list. 
  • Tap ‘Login’ 
  • Tap ‘Forgot Password?’ 
  • Follow the prompts to reset your password. 
2. I can’t log in. Forgotten email.
If you have registered for the app previously, but cannot remember which email you used, you have two options.
  1. Contact your school’s Sentral Parent Portal administrator and let them know you’ve forgotten the email address associated with your Parent Portal account. 
  2. Register for the app again, with a new email address. You will then need new access keys to link your children to the app. Contact your school to request new access keys. 
3. I can’t login. I don’t have access to that email account anymore.
If you no longer have access to the email address registered with the app, you have two options. 
  1. Contact your school’s Sentral Parent Portal administrator and let them know you no longer have access to that email address. 
  2. Register for the app again, with a new email address. You will then need new access keys to link your children to the app. Contact your school to request new access keys. 
4. How do I know my school uses the app?

The Sentral for Parents app is available to parents of schools which have subscribed to the app and have been provisioned to use the app. Please contact your school to find out if the app has been provisioned for your school. 

5. How do I register to use the app?
  • Download the app to your device. It’s available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. 
  • If you have a Parent Portal account, log in with your Parent Portal details. 
  • If you don’t have a Parent Portal account, you can register from the Home Screen of the app.

Follow the steps below to register for the Parent Portal via the app.

  • Search for your school in the search box.
  • Tap Next.
  • Tap Register here.
  • Enter your details.
  • Tap Create Account. This process also creates a Sentral Parent Portal account. You can use the login details created here to access the app, and the Parent Portal.
  • You will receive a confirmation email.
  • Click the link in the confirmation email to verify your details.
  • Log in to the app.
  • Use the access keys provided by your school to add your children to the app. Access keys can be added in the Settings menu.
  • View the QuickStart guide.
  • You will then see the Home Screen.
  • You’re now ready to use the app.
6. What is an access key?
An access key is a unique number provided by your school which identifies your child within the Sentral Parent Portal. You need to enter this number when you log in to the Parent Portal, under My Access.
7. Where do I get my access key(s)?
Access keys are provided by your school. Please contact your school's Sentral Parent Portal administrator for your access key(s).
8. Should I register for the Parent Portal or the app first?

You may register for either first. The login details you create will work for both the Parent Portal and the app. 

9. Can I register for the Parent Portal using the app?

Yes, you can. When you register via the app, you are registering for the Parent Portal at the same time. You can use the same login details for the app and for the Parent Portal. 

10. Can I use my Parent Portal account login for the app?

Yes. The logins will be the same. 

11. Can I notify the school of my child’s absence via the app?

Yes, you can, if your school has enabled this feature.  

12. Can I message my child’s teacher via the app?
Yes, via the Messages button on the Home Screen of the app. Check with your school if this feature has been enabled. 
13. Can I view and upload documents in the app?
  • Yes. Files may be viewed and downloaded from the Newsfeed and Resources buttons. 
  • You may upload a file as part of a conversation with a staff member via the Messages button.
14. I use the Parent Portal. Do I have to use the app?

No. It's optional to use the app. We encourage you to download and use the app and benefit from the convenience of its many great features. 

15. How do I get support for the app? Can I call someone?

The app is supported by FAQ and troubleshooting pages. For support not covered in these pages, please contact your school's administrator. 

16. I’ve been using the old Sentral for Parents app. How do I get the new one?
Our new app will be released as an update to the existing one. If your device is configured to update apps automatically, you won't need to do anything to receive the new app.
 

If you prefer to update manually:

For iOs users:

  • Open the App Store on your device
  • Tap on your profile icon
  • Locate your Sentral for Parents app
  • Tap update to install the new version

For Android users:

  • Open Google Play on your device
  • Click on the hamburger menu icon
  • Select my apps and games
  • Locate your Sentral Parents app
  • Tap update to install the new version
 
17. The app looks different. Has functionality changed?
Yes. Several new features have been added, including a streamlined newsfeed, two-way messaging, absence notifications, calendar, daily notices, interviews, payments and more.
18. I’ve been using the original Sentral for Parents app. Do I need to switch to the new one?
Yes. The new app completely replaces the original app. 
19. How do I get the new Sentral for Parents app?

It is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. 

20. Can I run the old and the new version of the app on my phone at the same time?
No. The new app completely replaces the original app.  
21. What if I have children in different schools?
  • When logged into the app, tap the Settings cog icon.
  • Then tap ‘Log Out’. 
  • Select the new school and log in.  
  • This process will log you out of the first school. You will not be logged into two schools at the same time. 
22. I’ve downloaded the new Sentral for Parents app. Do I need to log in again?
Yes. Use your Parent Portal username and password to log in to the new app. 
23. Do I need to add my children to the app?
  • If you have a current Parent Portal account and can view your children there, you will not need to add them again in the app. 
  • If you are registering for the app and for the Parent Portal for the first time, you will need to enter an access key to access your child’s information. The access key is provided by your school. 
  • Entering access keys is part of the registration process. 
24. Can I make payments in the app?
  • Yes. Tap the Payments button to access payments. 
  • You will be redirected to a secure Parent Portal web page to complete the payment. 
25. Can I order lunches in the app?
No. The app does not support lunch orders.
